my old water heater was leaking and i wanted something more efficient, home depot wanted $600 for this unit but i paid $499 after tax with free shipping from amazon. im a pretty handy guy and i installed it myself. i ran the plumbing and added the 3 240 volt circuits that are needed for the install. the hardest part of the instal was piecing together all the pieces of conduit for the wires leading to the electric panel. i have seen a reduction in my electric bill already however i cant say by how much because i started to run my air conditioner a little early this year. either way the bill is down from the same time last year. the greatest thing about this unit is that i have 6 people in my home and we would run out of hot water every night just from showering but now i can run both showers, the dishwasher and the washer all at the same time and i will never run out of hot water.
the only issue i have notice is that i have an LED flood light in my backyard with a dusk-to-dawn setting which just means it is on all night but at a low level of light, anyway, when its on the low level of light and the water heater is running, the LED light flickers. it does not do it while the light is on full power and it does not affect ANY of the other LED lights in the house. this doesnt really bother me because im not in the backyard while the water heater is on but wanted to mention that.
